When you look at this show through a narrative lens, the pieces don’t fit together
It’s about three very different families competing for the same 1920s Spanish-style villa that they believe will solve all their problems. Dennis Leary and Ray Romano both starred in the Ice Age franchise (from 2002 to the present).
There were a lot of red herrings
We get so far into each character’s backstory that the overall story doesn’t feel strong enough to stay on track. It all comes together in the end.
It would definitely be stronger without the ensemble cast
There are a lot of familiar faces, so I can see why they did it. There were a few weak characters, both in writing and acting.
The best part so far
Some of the others seem to struggle with the balance of comedy and drama. I think it’s time for Netflix to give Linda Cardellini her own show.
